looking at buying 2000 Disco TD5

    Hi guys,
    I'm a newby....even to 4x4 world.
I'm looking at a TD5 at British offroad and was hoping someone could give a few things to check over....pretty please?
They've replaced the g'box, done the servicing I think since new. The vehicle has done a lot of towing - should I look for anything specific here?
Has 279000 on the clock. looks like it's been looked after by the previous owner (I think only 1 owner) - interior looks great, drives well...only had a quick test run.

I'm going back again this arvo, so any help would be greatly appreciated.
Have a great one guys and this week-end looks like it'll be great to get outdoors....

That doesn't sound like a bad price if it's in good nick. Be good to get someone who has a bit of experience with D2 TD5's to have a look over it for you if you can find anyone nearby.
    Cheers .........

    Hi
For such high kms, and being a relatively early model D2 I would be thinking closer to $14,000.

I am sure that everybody with a 2000 model D2 with 270,000+ kms will now bad mouth me for saying their pride and joy is not worth $16,000 , but sure seems a high price for 279,000 kms !!

I don't think the price is unreasonable....the vehicle is extremly clean and tidy only a couple of scratches. Hardly been off road, even the underneath is straight. No big dings or scratches you'd expect for a 4x4 that has been off road....you know the usual damage caused from those big drop offs or climbs.....

Complete service history the g'box is new too. The guys at B.O.R. are looking after me with servicing too.....I know one of the employees.. (also my fiance).

Seen a couple of others and they were cheaper, but not as tidy and V8....I wanted a TD.

Thanks heaps for all your input....much appreciated. Will try and take it all in.....had a look on the web this morning at the Kenilworth and Mapleton tracks. Anyone been there? Know of any basic tracks? ...remember I need to practice the basics.

Don't let the cover of the book deceive you! The body and cosmetics are the cheap things to repair on a high mileage vehicle......

Ask them how much will it cost to overhall the motor when the piston rings need replacing. Than ask them how much they want for the Car. I bet they offer a lower price.
But if your fiance works there, and his job is safe, Go for it. You Know you want it.
