    Looking at D2's 03-04 Models

    G'day All,

    Looks like I might be set to sell the D3 and currently looking at D2's 03-04 models, most likely a TD5 with 7 seats. Looked at one yesterday, good nick, 83000 km's on it, SLS, 7 seats etc. Didn't have ACE, have asked some of the lads in the club about ACE and how important, would like to know more and any other advice when looking at these models.     A D2 without ACE is perfectly acceptable, it is just that a D2 with ACE is better handling onroad (still not up to D3 standards).

    Thanks mate, overall I found the D2 fine to drive, a little sway around corners, but overall in good nick...just waiting to be modified .

    They say that ACE is ACE.

    Not only is it better on road, it is significantly better when offroad. ACE out of the box offers 5" of extra suspension travel.

    thats not true is it? thats about 13cm. that would have to mean the standard suspension travel is similar to a falcon/commodore.

    Actually, no... it's not true. The suspension travel is exactly the same.

    What I meant was the ACE gives 5" of articulation over non-ACE. This is what the people running front swaybar disconnects are finding.

    Thanks for the feedback, also tossing up between V8 and TD5. Pro's for V8 is they are a hell of a lot cheaper but then the fuel issue and range. TD5, more exxy to finance but overall will be better on fuel, plus more choice with the V8's. Seems most of the D2's in 03/04 models are interstate ,

    I like the TD5, but don't forget to throw into the V8 equation the option of running gas, which I suspect may be cheaper than running the TD5.

    Where would it go, I need a 7 seater, so that rules out inside, therefore underneath but wouldnt that reek havoc off road? I do well over 500kms a week, mainly hwy hence attraction for the TD5, but V8's are cheap for what is a bloody good car, will have to do some sums of repayments and fuel for both and see what the outcome is. Im assuming that from what I have heard that if mainly hwy that a TD5, will do 700kms to a tank, the V8 around 460-480 to a tank??
