since i bought my disco series 2 V8 its been a dream to drive. last easter i took it for a run on fraser and was driving on the soft sand when i pushed the brake it locked up and slide then released and then lights started lighting up first the ABS then the TC then Hill Decent. the thing is it still drives fine so i thought the computer just had a freak out. what do i do or has this happened to anyone else.

One of your ABS wheel speed sensors has had the royal organ - bad news is that its a very expensive fix (could be up to $3000).
Exactly same thing happened to my 6 year old disco II - it seems to be a problem with the BMW ABS system - lots of Discos and BMWs have the same problem. Pity its out of warranty by now.
Your car will work perfectly except for the ABS which is now deactivated - dont rely on the downhill assist as it wont work - nor will traction control - and donthave any near misses as the ABS is also now deactivated. Dealer can reset the error codes but the warning lights willcome back on in a day or two.
Next time I will be buying a Toyota.
Cheers
Woah hold on there!!!!!..
Firstly and an absolute must, get someone with Testbook, Rovacom or Nanocom to plug into the diagnostics and find out what fault code has been logged in the SLABS (Self Levelling/Anti-Lock Braking System)
This will reveal where the error is likely to be.
Turbodiesel is right in what is now disabled, but the $3000 enema is a worst case scenario and unlikely. That would be the cost of a new ABS modulator plus fitting plus a holiday in Spain.
As mentioned, do a search on the "3 amigos" (named as such because all 3 light ABS, TC and HDC come on together).
One wheel sensor with a loose connection could cause the whole thing. Mine was just the brakes needing bleeding ($130) and the fault codes removed from the SLABS ($45)
You must get the diagnostic check first though.
Let us know how you go, its a very common problem, you are not alone.
Good luck, annoying but not a disaster![]()
Hey guys let you in on a secret. Check out USA ebay for ABS modulator valves, you can get second hand ones for around $500 landed in the country I have and sorted my issues out.

I beg to differ with Turbodiesel.
Despite the 3 amigoes being on the ABS/TC/HDC is still active.
Mine are on and have been for 6 months.Ive tested the brakes on gravel, the pedal still pulses.
Ive heard the TC cut in too, dont know about the HDC its no good to me anyway.
Im awaiting a Nanocom to do my own fault clearing.
