    Truespeed

    OI!
I have put bigger tyres on my DII! And there is a TRUESPEED that corrects the speedo,

Te gear changes are measured by road speed. But would it be better to leave the speedo incorrect and have it stay in a lower gear for longer to overcome the loss of gearing from the bigger tyres.

I am fine with staying within the limit! used to it now! And use a GPS anyway!

    Am I missing something?

Not sure what the legalities are of using a gps to show speed but taking the legalities out if it, I suppose it's personal preference. I run 33" tyres on my D2 with 4.11 diff gears and I fitted the truespeed. Simply because I like to know exactly what speed I am travelling at, plus my wife occasionally drives my truck. Once calibrated with a gps, the truespeed is remarkably accurate and has a toggle switch allowing you to run 2 sets of different sized tyres. My opinion.....fit the truespeed

is yours an Auto or a manual. It's the Changes in the Auto I like at the moment.... Don't want it to change up at the wrong revs. Like it a bit punchy!

I dont think the bigger tyres would affect the gear changes. And I dont think fitting the Truspeed will make a difference. They are easy to fit and cheaper than a speeding fine.

    I got mine from 4x4intelligence.com.

The truspeed seems to affect when the torque converter locks up.

Mick, does your Truespeed still let you use the Cruise control ? Its been said on other posts that fitting the truespeed to a Manual td5, that it stops the CC from working. Is this true of yours ?

    Sorry for the Hi jack.

It did cancel my cruise initially, but this side affect was simply from not calibrating the unit correctly. After repeating the calibration process again more accurately, cruise was returned and all systems function perfectly now. Great little unit especially if you run two sets of different sized tyres.

McDisco, i'm confused when you say

"I dont think fitting the Truspeed will make a difference. They are easy to fit and cheaper than a speeding fine."

Are you saying you would fit it or not?

    Aye, Mick

Yeah mine is affected and mine is a manual td5. Only engages in in certain rev ranges and sometime needs fifth gear for any speed above 60km/hr. I think its got to do with the rpms the ecu reads.
