    Leaking Roof?

I have a '99 TD5 D2 and just noticed that I have some wet patches on both driver and passenger side of the leading edge of my roof lining at the top of my windscreen It's raining here just now and I'm wondering where it might be coming in? My windscreen rubber looks fine so guessing it might be coming in at the point were the roof bars fix to the roof itself? Have not had time to inspect closely pus it is raining hard. Any suggestions of where else to look etc much appreciated.

I'd say either the roof bars or the alpine windows, i've had a leaking front windscreen and it doesn't leak into the roof lining, itruns down the screen or the A pillar and down to the floor or behind the dash.

Check the rubbers under where the bar mounts to the roof.

    Cheers Baz.

    Hi Mick
Had a windscreen replaced since last rains???
I had exactly the same issue with a new screen,so bad it had wind noise in both upper corners.
They eventually fixed it with a HEAP of sikaflex, next person to do the screen will be real sad!!!
I spoke to another windscreen man,non genuine Discovery and Rangie screens are off spec,ie dont match correctly and are real hard to seal, especially if you are unaware.

    *slight hijack - sorry!*
    ***** Andy
    Off Spec!
I've got an 8" crack in mine and it's due to be replaced on Monday by Instant Windscreens on Insurance thru RAC...does that mean I'm gonna have to ring RAC and insist on genuine???
    Cheers

GOODLUCK Mike, all you can do is ask.
They dont have to use genuine and wont due to the price.
Just ask if they have done one and ask that they put plenty of sikaflex in.Its a glue in screen, not one of those 12v heat up seals.
Tell them you are well aware of others screens not sealing, perhaps they will take extra care to get it right.

    Many thanks for that Andy...
If they won't do the genuine thing, a colleague's son in law is a windscreen guy so I might forget the insurance and go through him...
Had enough leaking windscreens in Triumphs and Fiats...enough to know I don't want any more, lol!

Thanks guys, going to pull the head lining out his weekend and see what's what. Have not changed he windscreen since I have owned the car. My money is on the roof rails but of course these appear to be attached from the inside

Thanks again and will keep you posted if I find the fix.

they are, but simple removal once the head lining is out.

The foam pads between them and the roof ripped on mine on removal

maybe you'd better test that they are actually leaking before ripping them off
