    TD5: Engine oil in inlet manifold???

    Hi

    I've got a year 2000 TD5 with 119K miles on it. I took the hose off the inlet manifold, and could see some engine oil lying in the entrance to the manifold. There was also engine oil smeared round the inside of the hose with some lying in the bottom of the hose that dribbled out.

    There was also some engine oil on the map sensor which I cleaned off.
    Is it normal to have engine oil in the hose and inlet manifold?

    Maybe there is some other issue developing with the turbo maybe?

    At least I know now my intercooler needs a good clean.

    more than likely its your crankcase ventilation system.

    It's normal on any turbo diesel from ring blow by.

    sconded its acting normally but in the interests of saving your intercooler turbo and valves you might want to check out the provent threads.

    Take your inlet manifold off and clean it too, i had mine done when the head gasket was done, my mechanic reckoned that there was that much gunk in there, it was 5mm to 8mm deep
