Yea it did wobble and knock a fair bit and oil was squirtin out of the seal. And was about too spit the belt off so i will get the radiator fan and cowling out of it and have a better look whan i get home from work, which is not for another 2 weeks, had a trip planned too for then but looks like i wont be doin that now.
Hopefully it is like you say and the harmonic balancer with a know fault ( thanx guys ) thats the problem, if the crank is damaged stay tuned for a wrecking disco. i'll keep yous informed

well i just pulled off the pulley, slipped the belt off and got underneath and un bolted the the whole assembly, looking at the key way it looks like it has slipped out 10 mm or so and then worn left 10mm then slipped again 10mm and worn left 10mm, it also has two missing bolts that attatch the weighted part to the rest. so it has a stepped look to it. I cant realy geta good look at or into the key way on the crank but no visible carnage. my guess i think is that maybe it was out of balance because of the missing bolts and in turn loosening the the main bolt and wearing and slipping worse as it mov ed away from the seated position. What do you guys reakon? should i just source replacement parts and refit and see how i go?
