Its hard to assess value without knowing what options are fitted but assuming its a base model auto (not the ES model) I'd say its about right, not a bargain, just fair. The biggest issue is whether it has a service history, dont touch it if it doesnt.

It is cold this time of year, and a bit wet of late

We have seen the log book great service history and log book owned by a university . Log book states every trip doen to the last K. Serviced by Land Rover specialists each time. Its an auto no special features but excellent condition thanks

I looked at getting a V8 as there were a lot more of them around, drove a few and decided to stick with the original plan to get a Tdi. I have been very happy with it. It has a lot more K's on the clock and is a little older but, I do about 200's a day in it and get about 800k's per tank.

I have driven it on the beach and it goes really well. You might want to test drive a diesel or two before you commit. Just a suggestion based on how pleased I am with mine. I have a 200 Tdi.

There are loads of good rovers around so don't feel pressured to commit. You might want to check out the marketplace here too. I hunted for a while.

I'd suggest a late model D1 300tdi auto - should pick up one for under $10K or a D2 td5 at about $15+K. If running around in city you'll rue the cost of fuel refills. (I picked up a 2000 auto D2 V8 for $12K and this was probably too much.... I'll be gassing mine when $ and tanks are available).

(300tdi and td5 - $17-18 approx/100km, V8 - $30approx /100km, lpg $16/100km..... so savings in fuel of diesel or lpged disco over 20,000km pa about $2600 pa in fuel. So spend the extra to buy a good td5. In 2 years will have saved difference between a $12k V8 and a $17k D2 td5.)
