Wanted: Template for a TD5 D2 Safari Snorkel

I have a Safari Snorkel here waiting to go on my D2. Just wondering if anyone has a template floating about.

My other option is just to position the snorkel and use it as the template. Any suggestions from someone who has done this before would be appreaciated.

    Thanks

    Hi

Try this. You will have to join first. I can't imagine the 300Tdi and D2 would be that much difference.

    Good start anyway!

Rats! Just noticed it's for a Defender 300Tdi.

    Sorry.

Yeah I found that one. Didn't think it would match.

PM me - I've just fitted mine and still have the two templates (inner/outer guards). Fortunately, aluminium is much easier to work with than steel!

a general tip on fitting the Safari snorkel to the D2 - the alignment of the snorkel bottom outlet with the hole in the inner guard isn't great, combined with the fact that the hole in the inner guard is restrictive (i.e. smaller cross-section than narrowest point of snorkel). Therefore I cut out the hole in the inner guard a bit more with a Dremel and have connected the snorkel directly to the airbox inlet 'pipe' (i.e. I first pulled off the part of the inlet pipe that bolts to the inner guard normally) with some flexible vent hose (make sure you use pipe with ribbing or wire support to avoid any sucking in under max throttle). I think this set-up will provide slightly improved airflow and also makes it easier to set up a watertight seal...
