    Annoying fuel gauge issue..

    Guys,
My D2 seems to have a dubious grip on the truth for when it's actually getting low on fuel. Perhaps it's just one of life's eternal optimists and likes to see its glass as always being half full but i'm really wishing it wouldn't.

Second time this has happened now, parked it up with the gauge reading low, not at the point of having the warning light on but not far off it - so in theory a good few litres left in the tank. Parked on a slight slope with the nose pointed down the hill, not much of a gradient - just nosed in to the kerb on a normal cambered street.

Come to start the bugger back up again a day later and will it start? Will it chuff. Turns over, gives the occasional kick but not enough to actually get running.

Stick in a couple of litres of fuel from a can and all is once again right with the world.

Now i normally wouldn't mind a bit of inaccuracy or if i was parking it on a serious gradient causing it to misread but it still shows as having a good bit left and this only seems to happen when it's parked up and then restarted - will run fine well into the red when on the move.

Is this something to be expected with the D2 and just one to live with as a result of the fuel pickup location, or is mine playing up? I don't mind myself making sure i don't let it run too low but the other half might not always remember & having to cart around a can of fuel just incase could be a pain.

    Anyone else experience the same?

    Cheers

    Al

    Hi A
I had a similar problem with the D2 when we removed the fuel pump we found the the casing had come apart and was laying in the tank on an angle the gauge would read above the red line and we would run out of Diesel also the warning light would not come on. we have now replaced the pump assembly and all is well.
    Regards
    Doug

you should be able to hear the fuel pump prime the system,, these things are designed to run at funny angles so either DougLD is right or the fuel level was VERY low, well past fuel light ON,,

    NOT a normal D2 thing,,,

Cheers, will have a look see - haven't run out of fuel on the move as yet despite the light being on a few times but could well be something loose/colapsed back there.

    Thanks
