With regard to the oil in loom issue, you only really need to change the loom under the rocker cover, and clean any oil residue out of the main loom. The injector loom it pretty cheap. Under $200 from LR.
Its very easy to do.
G'day All,
Geez and I thought having a D3 was exxy. I also clearly know sweet FA about mechanics.....though am learning bits and pieces as I go. Ok these are my issues, I have done a bit of a search on ones I could find more about...still come away scratching my head as I think you need some basic knowledge to understand. Therefore any feedback advice on the issues themselves ie repercussions if not done within a time frame, general cost if getting it done for you, how bad is the issue....anything else one can add. I really appreciate any input, normally would just go and get fixed but financially this year running a business has been a bastard, so kinda need to know what is most important. Issues are as follows, with current advice from dealer:
Pic of pin...sorry not much chop but those in the know should know
- Oil leaks at transfer box....requires a full seal.
- Oil leaks at engine and injector wire harness. I believe approx $1450, gets a modified harness ( whatever the frick that is) to prevent future issues.
- Rear Diff Side Gears shaft tension pin broken...picture attached. Could need repairing or new/ 2nd hand diff.
- LHR Hub starting to leak oil.
I believe I should be able to get diff stuff under warranty, but apparently leaks aren't. Thoughts/ advice. Im guessing the diff issue is the most important? Thanks in advance,
Regards
Stevo

the leaks are easy fixes
the harness takes less than an hour but you need to flush the primary harness which takes about 24 hours but you dont need to watch it while it happens
I cant make out the diff tension pin problem but Id expect that to be warranty as its broken not leaking.

Hi, I replaced the injector wiring loom about 18 months ago and the loom and rocker cover oil seal were $150. The rest of the loom will still seep a bit for the next while but shouldn't cause any problems - it will go away. I had oil leaking out at all sorts of sensors, especially the air cleaner sensor but didn't change these looms.
As for the diff I will PM you.
The gearbox oil seal I asume the mechanic means front and rear which involves the removal of the transfer box - not a huge issue with a car hoist.
The hub seal - I have had no experience with these but there is a lot of recent information on these on this site.
Good luck, Erich
You can add these to the list if you like,
ABS (something to do with the modual i think) $1600
Fuel block $360
Transmission actuator switch $400
The other day the passenger window dropped, on inspection i found 1 of the plastic rollers has broken in half, i dont know if it can be replaced yet or i have to replace the whole electrical winder.
Sorry to hear Steve. Welcome to LR by Rover as opposed to LR by Ford.
I've had a number of leaks with our car. All covered by warranty so far but it seems to spring a new leak every 6 months or so. Since it's not under warranty anymore I don't think I'll worry about it unless it's serious!
I'm not sure I understand your diff problem but if you have any more issues in there ARB Airlocker will fix it![]()

Thanks for the advice etc, there is one glaring issue........I have no mechanical apptitude whatsoever, so chances of me doing something is none and buckleys. Im going to speak to warranty mob today and see what the go is with the rear diff as I am guessing that in numero uno to get sorted. The rest will play be ear,
Regards
