G'day Andrew,
Located drivers side top of bellhousing, if viewed from the rear of the vehicle it would be at about 1 oclock, back from the bellhousing bolts about 2 inches.
SOMETIMES, a leaking fuel block MAY contaminate the connector with diesel, but it has tio be a pretty big leak to mist back that far. I have seen diesel in the plug when I have unplugged them though. Also, oil from a contaminated main wiring harness can enter the plug and cause havoc.
I have heard of people having had new ones fitted to their manual vehicles, strangely AFTER a flywheel has been replaced
IE when removing the flywheel they have possibly damaged the end of the sensor...and charged the customer for a new one.
