D2 - going open loop all the time

Hi all. Installed new coil packs in the beast. New leads and new plugs (Champ double platinum) at the same time. It fried an original coil pack - thus the change. Since then - only a couple of weeks ago it has been running open loop all the time for some reason and today for the first time it was a bit dodgy starting when hot...started but had a very low (almost stall) idle. Other than that it runs well. Just thinking then that perhaps the year old MAF has got dirty (never cleaned since I got the new MAF) and it might be getting dodgy readings from it and defaulting to open loop?

    Cheers

    Hi Oz,

Can't be sure but I recently had an open loop issue most of the time, and I replaced both the O2 sensors and the MAF. Don't know which fixed it, but one of them did! I didn't have a low idle though. Mine was high and oscillating. Don't know if that helps.
    Cheers,
    Terry

Thanks mate - I cleaned mine before Fraser and now its starting nicely and idles nicely. I think the open loop issue must be O2 sensors yet it runs perfectly on LPG with good economy, and the LPG takes its stochiometric settings from the left bank O2 sensor, so I am wondering whether it really is the O2s....I will not worry about it.

    Cheers
