Thread: ACE warning light - amber

My wife was driving back from holidays along the F2 with the car loaded up when she noticed a warning light on the dash; after a moments panic she pulled over and phoned me to ask what it was (I was at home enjoying the 'holiday'
Subsequent digging through the manual found it to be the ACE warning light; as she was still 150klm from home and the warning light was amber (not red) it was decided she should continue to drive home. Before setting off she rebooted the car (ok, turned it off and back on again - warning light gone ! never to have returned again (now 3 weeks later).
I have checked the ACE oil level and belts etc, no problems there, all is good. A bit of digging around on the web and there's not much info on this; although there is mention of recalibrating the accelerometers (sp ?).

Does anyone have any advice or thoughts on this ? is this a common occurance or just one of those things? interestingly I found an entry in the service history for the same thing when the car was 6months old, the previous owner must have had a similar experience; there is no mention of what the dealer did (or didn't do) at the time.

There is no oil temperature sensor for ACE so it wont be the oil being detected as getting too hot.

As long as it isn't loosing oil it will probably be something to do with the accelerometers - loose or loose electrical connection or the lower one hit by something thrown-up by the right front wheel. If it goes away on restart then its nothing to worry about.

Loss of oil pressure has been known to only bring on the amber light even though it should be the red light. No oil for more than a very short time is terminal for the pump, then the belt etc etc.
