I've had problems with my air suspension recently and finally it gave up the ghost and my left rear airbag blew out while i was driving back from fraser. When I was up at fraser Island the air bags kept randomly deflating, but they always seemed to pump back up after I turned the car off for a few minutes and turned it back on again.
so now i have 2 options - replace the airbags or go to coils. I have read a lot about both options and seem to be a little confused about what would be the best option. I love the self-leveling capabilities of the SLS when i'm towing my camper trailer, but I'm concerned that they won't be as reliable when we're in remote areas. Looking at doing fraser island more often and am keen to know what peoples advise / experience is.
Loved the TD5 on the soft stuff - even with the buggered suspension. The inland tracks felt like a shopping trolley over cattle grates though![]()

I replaced mine with these ones. Have gone up in price slightly since I did mine a few months ago (& the AU$$ has come down heaps) but it will still be cheaper to get these ones if you still want to keep the Air bags.

I can second the Arnott airbags. They have a lifetime warranty also.
Agree its a real shame about the US$ fx rate, but still a good option.

IMHO get some new airbags, but also keep 1 eye on a new compressor at around 10 yrs as this will also need replacing albeit probably only once in the vehicles life.
Best of luck.![]()

My suggestion would be to take along a spare airbag if you are going remote. They are not that big a thing to carry and weight nothing. My one let me down at the top of Cape York so there was a bit of a story in sorting out that mess. Takes less than 30 min to replace. Going to steel springs means that you will not get caught out again but you then loose the whole point of having SLS.
