    Action 4WD Monthly

Guys, latest 4WD Action Monthly has just arrived at my door. This used to be Australian 4WD monthly. Love the mag and look forward to it. I presume we all remember the last time they tested a d3 and it stopped after going thru a river. Not a great day. This issue they tested 5 trucks for their ultimate aussie touring 4WD. Well guess who came back from the dead to win it. Yep, the best 4X4XFar. Incidently the writer did mention the previous effort by the d3 and that they were not just being nice this time, on the contrary, they tried their best to beat it up and make it fail.

Unfortunately the Defender came last, but this was due to its lack of comfort for touring, while it excelled in the rough stuff. The D3 however was the complete package, pipping the LC200 into second place.

If anyone would like i can scan the article.

Was definitely a great car, the guys in the office here loved it.

Unfortunately for me I was off shooting a travel segment with Roothy, so I didn't get to drive it. Maybe next time

Geez Boxer, is the only thing you guys from Aus 4Wd action do is trawl 4wd forums? There is squik (Serika) and 4130 warrior (brendon) on outerlimits and now you too.

Funnily enough though, I came here first and foremost to meet other Disco owners

And the best bit about that is the "hey I'm having an issue with my car" bit , cause 9.9999 times out of ten, several other owners have done this before and have the info.

What a load of hogwash - we drove ours 16,000km around Oz and I have never driven a more comfortable vehicle - and I used to use Patrols/Cruisers in the same environment for work.

I'm 6'2" - I reckon you've got to be a sook to find a Defender so uncomfortable. Or are they fat arses?

The comments were about the suspension more than the seating (though they did comment on the handbrake still poking into the left leg.) They had a few dislikes, but the article is far too brief, and I haven't checked the DVD to see if it has more useful info. The only real criticism of the Disco 3 is that the dealer network is limited.

    Hi Pedro,

My membership here as posted is purely due to the fact that I own a 1996 V8i Disco and am a very happy Landrover owner. As far as the magazine goes, well, I don't own it, I work here. If anything would have thought that my non offensive post would have been welcomed by Landrover owners who like to see more great British 4WDs in the pages. Feel free to pull it down if you feel otherwise. And you you have a problem with the way I've responded here, please don't hesitate calling me on (02) 9741 3869 or 0415 936 558

    Cheers

I see the Age/SMH Drive Magazine has picked the LC200 GXL as the best 4X4 fo 2008.
But haven't seen the full article yet.
