Down the chassis underneath and up through one of the rear grommits I found to be the easiest.

I went through one of the grommets in the firewall into the cabin and along the sills under the screw down strips. At the rear come up around the wheel arch under the edge of the carpet and out the opening for one of the hold down points. Perhaps not as easy as dm_td5 but is not subject to outside influences.

#2 philips screws on the treads, you shouldn't need to touch the "sills" but if you do they are a plastic rivet thing with a push through centre shaft. They are a throw away item if you push the shaft all the way through to a non-retrievable position which some (eg A Pillar) are used in.

There's a removable strip that covers the screws that runs down the middle of the screw down strip. Under the screw down strip you'll find there's a vertical lip which the screw down strip covers. This allows a #4 cable (about as thick as your little finger) to easily run along the sill and under the A pillar. More difficult bit is around the wheel arch and under the carpet and up/out the hold down point in the carpet. Where the cable reaches the wheel arch at the rear I had to trim the screw down strip a little on the end to allow the cable to exit and to be able to screw the strip back down.
