But it looks bigger

The Series3 Stage 1 also did, though it was a bigger DC than what the D2 has - no doubt the same as the Mil one.

Have you tried to see if it will fit the D2 Simon, or at least be modded to fit.

No, never made the comparison. They definately are not standard rover flange pattern, though neither is the D2/DC flange. I'm pretty sure (but not 100%) that it doesn't though.

Hi Nobby,

The part number is SCV-82A which is the full joint including seals, from Hardie Spicer on Churchill Rd Nth . Apparently after speaking with my mechanic they are not available in SA and the current thinking is towards just replacing the whole shaft as the time + parts scenario is almost the same cost.

You will find that the oil seal which is included with SCV-82A kit is different to what is actually used in the D2 and will NOT fit.

Other than that, the ball joint is identical and will fit. So, if you can recover the oil seal without damage from your old shaft and it is in a condition to reuse then you can use the SCV-82A kit.

I believe the SCV-82B kit has the correct size oil seal.

I have first hand experience with SCV-82A but no first hand experience with SCV-82B so maybe someone else can confirm that SCV-82B has the correct oil seal.

Its because the D2 has a larger angle / height diff between the front output of the transfer box and the front diff, a normal "single" UJ would have not provided enough movement.
