Hi everyone, this one is bugging me.A little while ago i noticed oil on my air cleaner box and thought it was coming from the p/steering tank, but found it wasnt it.So further investigation has found it was coming out of the wireing/sensor on the lid of the box.Markings on the sensor are ROVER MHK 100600 EP 5577A.There is a braided hose coming out of the rocker cover that had a little oil under it , that goes into the air cleaner hose just in front of the turbo and im pretty sure that is were it is coming from.I split the air cleaner hose and found a plastic grill inside and wiped a white cloth over it and there was a bit of oil on it , not heaps though. Can anyone think of why this might be happening? Thanks Tony
This is a symptom of a contaminated injector wiring loom, new part number is AMR 6103. If you search here you will find HEAPS of posts about oil in injector loom and how / why it is there, and how to fix it.
Basically, the oil you have found is coming from the wiring plug to the ambient air sensor, which is part of the main harness.
