Question D2, the lifts here, now for my next question...

ok now that i have bought my 2' lift, (thanks to shane at suspensionstuff) my next question to the wiser disco owners is,

im going shopping for bighorns (265/75r16) on sunnies in the next week or so and im wanting to know what offset to run, or mainly how wide can i push it out because im wanting to spread the track a little bit more to make it a bit more stable.

i see alot of people are just running the offroad tires on their alloys but i was going to keep my alloys with their current highway terrains for around town.

so please feel free to leave your thoughts!

    cheers

I'm not sure if you can get sunnies for the D2. There are the rims that Procomp sell which work. I'm not sure what their offset is, but the do sit a bit wider than the OE rims. These I'm pretty sure come in 16x7 and 16x8. It'll be interesting to see if the offset rims with 265's and 2" rub on the bodywork which I suspect they might.

I think these are Procomp 16x7 w/ 255/85-16 BFG MT:

To my knowledge 1" offset each corner is the legal limit, but i guess if you have wide flares on you could go further but id imagine that would be plenty!?

Ps: Great choice on suspension same set up i got put on my D1 from Shane! you will love it

I tell a lie. Dynamic4x4 do have sunnies for the D2, but in 17x7.

It may even be cheaper to get a second set of alloys for your muddies - this will then give you the right offset & less weight.
They are available on the landrover forums & e bay quite often.

265's will fit on the standard alloys.

I run a set of MTZ's in 265 x 75 x 16 as a my everyday tyres - they seem to have a much grip if not more than the oem tyres - they are certainly better on the road than wrangler 18" oem's.

    Regards

Yeah only if you could find them. Ive been looking for months for a 2nd set of Tempest alloys, not having any luck at all. The only ones on ebay are the 18inch ones, but theyre tyres would be too expensive.

i was going more for the ability to repair your steelies in the field etc, but i thought with sunnies or steelies in general you could just order them drilled to suit? dont know where i got that from lol.

ill def look into those procomps, where about would i find a set?

i also callled shane back today and ordered a bilstein steering dampner to go with the bigger tire setup

You'll have to contact Procomp in Melb and then order the rims through a procomp dealer - they can put you on to somebody, even if its just a tyre dealer.

Factory alloys are absolutely everywhere and they're proving to be a very strong rim which typically sell for about $100-$150ea in 16". The Disco2 steelies seem to sell for a little bit more and will run the alloys wheel nuts, but have a different wheel nut to suit.
