    I did it to mine.....

It made it noisier, and the turbo sounded very cool.

I've since put the muffler back in again.
    Cheers

How much more noisy was it with the middle muffler off? I don't really care as long as it doesn't drone at cruise. Any performance gains to be had or just a cool turbo noise?? The TD5 has a pretty decent stock exhaust apart from that massive front muffler.

So worth it just for the cool turbo noise

I replaced mine with a big straight through one (still with offset outlet) as I was trying to find the source of a drone and the muffler seemed to be hollow. I didn't notice any extra noise but the turbo response improved. I subsequently replaced the bellows-type flex joint (saw that it had a 50% restriction, so a bonus) with a wire one and that got rid of the drone and further improved the turbo response.

I pulled mine out before I left hervey Bay last week, to be honest its barley any louder. If at all.
Pulling a trailer and the engine working in the hills it's has a bit of growl but nothing like my 550hp cat dragging 65tonne.
Same with the turbo, it's barley noticable.
Question, who has pulled the cat out?
This might be keeping things quiet on mine.
