trans/shaft damper ?
Finlay I might have found out were my rattling is coming from..
after a holiday with the family reversing into my driveway I herd a strange rattle coming under the body ..after a close insp..I found that a damper or a metal plate with rubber between it ( I am trying to discr..sits betw..the transmission /front of the drum that sits in front of the front shaft ..I am going to try to tighten it.. does anyone have a idea what I am trying to describe ? or is there a easy way of doing this ? or whats it called

that would be the donut....i have never seen one or replaced one but there is plenty of threads about them....a lot of guys upgrade it to a UJ...i think

My Disco I has a vibration dampener on the pinion housing for front diff, near the tail shaft. The rubber isolator part of it looks the same as a V8 engine mount.
