    2004 discos

    hi all im new here doing some research into my next car which at this stage will be a 2004 town/country version disco where there are a few for sale but they are all autos do/did they come out as a manual as well
    i have been warned about the head issues at around 150k and to be prepared to spend some $$ but apart from that i havnt found any major drawback to these vehichles
    i wish to purchase one buy march so i have some time to find a good one
    thanks for your help and if there is anything else i should be aware of please tell me
    i have a butget to $35000

    I think the auto was simply more popular.

    Head issues Early Td5's had plastic dowels in the heads but this was rectified I thought in later motors. Not sure what you are referring to.

    i was told today that some of the models had problems with heads cracking he may of been refering to 2000 -2003 i carnt remember exactly anyhow if i can find a manual one ill buy it otherwise ill end up with an auto

    Was looking at this model myself and had found a couple of 5 speed manuals on car point, have not looked for a while.
    This is a picture of one i Found sold now.

    I suspect that does refer to the plastic head dowels and this was in the 1999 - 2002 engines. Bit of searching: VIN range after 3A647706 had steel ones which actually includes some of the first of the 03MY. I suspect these may have been late 2002 release (first imports) as my D2 was a 3A8... VIN and was built in Feb 2003.
