Stuck ashtray and coin trays in DII

Anyone had this problem? Can't seem to release them by pushing in further or pulling from underneath.

    TIA

I happen to be an expert in two such matters, this is one of them, this happens to me at least once a week ( Sold the D2 thought so won't be a prob anymore! ), get your fingernails up underneath it at the very back, thumb on the front, sort of push it up with thumb, and out with fingernails, should come out easy.
    If not, you're buggered.

Also have the worlds best hiccup cure if needed.....( that's the other matter )

    i think he's got it.
otherwise, just drop down to the neaest supermarket complex near you and ask a kid that looks like a 'doof doof' car is his home, or is wearing his hat backwards, to open it for you.

A selection of swear words and rapid "tapping" with a closed fist to settle the contants worked for me.

    Hi guys,
    can anyone help here?

I've removed the cup/coin holder assembly and found out why the ashtray wouldnt spring out - no spring! Broken plastic lug but I found the spring behind the console - lucky me!
Of course on removal, the coin holder side broke so now I need to fix both!

Is there a later model with a better design? (mines early 01') The spring tension is considerable when the trays are pushed in - no wonder the plastic bits broke!

Is there a good 'fix' other owners have found?

    Thanks for any help,
    Darian

Had the broken spring tab on both of mine. Used a small nut and bolt with washers to capture the end of the spring and drilled thru the plastic casing. Seems to have worked for the past months.
