    Wheel Arch Flares

    Hi All,
I own a Disco 2a and was wondering if anyone out their nows how to successfully remove the plastic Wheel Arc Flares that come standard with this model. I want ot be able to removes these without breaking them, sand them back and paint as they are looking a little weather beaten and scratched fro the trees and UV rays.
Any help would be greatly appreciated....

    Cheers
    Glenn

Once they come off they are the biggest pain in the preverbial to re-attach. They are only stuck on with double sided tape.
Once removed the only way to really re-attch them is Sikaflex!
I would not remove them. Spend a little time taping them up & then paint them.
We use a company by the name of "New Life Vinyl & Leather Repairs"
to touch some of ours up.
    This may help.
    Cheers

I couldn't find any grey sikaflex so i had to use black what a bloody mess, thank god for Eucaliptus oil

Or you could replace them with one of the rubber or f/g wheel arch extension kits that just screw on. They come with either concealed screws or for a more macho look the visible "pocketed" type (my favourite).

    Hi Guys,
Sorry I've not replied sooner but I've been out of range for the last few days, but now back in the land of the livining in this Sydney rat-race.....
Looks like I'll be sanding, priming and painting them right where they are. Thanks heaps for the feedback...

    I have a similar problem.
Can i just remove all the flares and go for the flare-less factory look? Some had flares, some didn't.
Would it just be a case of polishing the paint under the flare to remove the old tape?

    Hi Vogue,
Once u remove them u will end up with a lot of double sided grey tape on the body work. Prepsol or something similar & a bit of time, You wil have the std flareless look u are after.

Angle grinder and thin cutting disc will get them off just nicely. Then you can fit bigger flares and 33s
