    03-04 Disco Td Auto questions.

G'day all new to the site and new to Land Rovers so ive got a few questions for people in the know.

Looking for a new 4WD the Mave. is getting abit tired now with all the trips ive put it thru.

Ive got a few rigs in mind but ive always been drawn to the Disco for some reason.

It would be mainly used for towing, long distance touring, and some light 4WDriving. The camper trailer is around the 1000kgs and the boat is around 1200kgs.

How do you guys think it will hold up?
Anything i should look out for?
And consumption some figure would be handy?

    Thanks for the help.

    Mick

    1) should have no problem towing given the 3 ton rating. I know a few people who tow up to 21' caravans with no issues (vehicles are chipped though)

    2) Do a search for issues - there are a few things but nothing too dramatic.

    3) Fuel consumption will depend on auto/manual, speed and what weight you are towing - I would count on around 17 litres per 100 km from an auto.

    Cheers,

Geez Franz! I tow my off road camper with my D2 auto, approx 1200kg and have NEVER got worse than 14.5L/100km on the highway!

They are a great towing vehicle and the auto is great although I did have to get mine rebuilt last year at about 200k... and that cost $6000.

    Must be a manual then.

I don't tow and over the life of my vehicle, my fuel consumption has been 13,5 litres per 100 km. I do carry a lot of weight on a permanent basis though (bull bar, winch, heavy sliders, steel rear bar, chuck wagon, full oald of recovery gear etc.)

    Cheers,

    Franz
