Turbo oil drain
Hi all,had to remove turbo on td5 disco to fix oil leak on filter housing and spent 65 frustrating mins trying to get the back bolt into oil drain pipe, only thing I didn't do was remove the pipe from block. There must be an easier way..I guess couldve lived with the leak.

Evil, Evil thing!
In the end I assembeled my turbo and drain pipe out the the vehicle and then lowered it back in and hooked everything back up. Be very careful with the back bolt. I broke and repaired the mounting plate 3 times before I got upset and bought a whole new pipe.

Hey george 130 I was going to that next if I never got it at my last attempt it was made even worse by the second battery tray that sits on that side in the disco.Hopefully I wont have to do it again in a hurry.
Cheers.

last mechanic i had do the oil change on my d2 on the road just grabbed the pipe and bent it out of the way so he could get to the oil filter. bent the bolt on flange so it leaked. only problem was i didnt realise it was leaking until i got aobut 800klms out of town. i repaired the flange on the side of the road while we camped the night at a rest stop. lucky i had some loctite formagasket and some gasket material thick enough to take up the slack. but you can imagine what it was like doing it on the side of the road with a limited tool kit

Joys of Td5 oil filters
Wait till the thread in the centrifical filter housing comes out with the bolts and they wont tighten up, you can use longer bolts but the same happens..Ended up re-coiling them when I had the turbo off..The joys of dis-similar metals I guess.Someone has alot to answer for that set up.
Cheers Ean
