    D2 KEY QUERY

I have lost the blade of the remote key for my 2001 D2.

I have simple key as a spare so all works ok using the remote then key.

BUT, sometimes I need to disarm twice before I can start the car!
ie disarm to open the doors, then disarm again to start the car.

Is there more to the lost blade than just the metal?
Or does the immobiliser rearm if I am too slow or quick to turn the ignition on?

    D2 key

There is a coil in the steering column that acts like an aerial.
Maybe your key fob is not close enough on occasion and you are getting a poor signal.

    Trev.

should have added that yes if the key is in the ignition and you don`t switch on,it will disarm in about 30 secs.

    Hi Colin,

Had the same issue, was told by LR specialists that could'nt get the blade alone had to order a whole new key $300!

Got the blade for the key Fob from here:

TD5 LANDROVER DISCOVERY 2 -KEY BLANK BLADE-UNCUT - eBay, Land Rover, Car Parts, Cars, Parts Vehicles. (end time 27-Nov-08 09:44:52 AEDST)

$20 AUD and $20 to get it cut (which I thought was expensive but that's a different story)

    Hope this helps.

    Cheers
    JB.

Thanks Trev. that sounds likely to be the cause. I will watch closely the next time it fails. At the moment I cannot get it to fail!

thanks JB. I just looked at the link and it seems perfect, but not currently available. I will keep an eye out for them.
