So can anyone explain why effect happens? surely if the hose swells up that could only result in a very miniscule amount of turbo lag. I mean it's not going to be able to reduce the pressure, once it finishes swelling up. Perhaps it's because the old hose is leaking or is constricted in some way? Is that why new hoses make any difference?

Starting to think this is the cause of my erratic running TD5.
Runs fine until you put the boot in to it, IE: overtaking or a quick get away at the lights.
Since I started taking more notice, I would say it's worse when it's been running for awhile.( Heat in engine bay )
I'm thinking the longer the engine is running the softer those hoses get, hence a more pronounced hesitation or lack of performance.

Apparently the hoses can delaminate & then air gets between the laminates & swells it up inside restricting the flow, much like a cholesterol filled artery.

I will know soon enough, BAS have sent my new hoses off today.
So in a week or so I will have them on and problem solved or maybe start looking else where.;)

I'd also be looking at the wastegate modulator, oil in the injector harness, fuel sensor, throttle position sensor, crank angle sensor, air in the fuel system, to name a few.

Maybe erratic is not the best description, as stated the engine runs fine until I expect that little bit extra.
More a hesitation, power drops off then comes on like nothing has happened.
Around the 2500rpm mark. Increasing the boost on the turbo made it worse (although it has never gone in to limp mode) which leads me to believe the hoses are at fault, same with heat after running for a while.
The rubber goes soft and causes the hoses to distort. Just a theory.;)
Will post up results after fitting new hoses next week.
Just for the record, I had a new injector loom fitted about 10K ago.

Anybody happen to know if the BAS and TD5Alive hoses are of a similar quality?

TD5 alive hoses are Samco 3ply hoses.

Al my hoses are 5 ply for a nice robust hose that should last for ever.

Ive been playing with my new Nanocom over the weekend. Ive noticed that between 2000-2500rpm is where full boost comes in, with a reading of about 1.12 -1.14 bar Than to me it appears that the waste gate opens and boost can drop back to 1.08 -1.09ish. I'm wondering if some of the power loses we find can be just put down to the waste gate opening too much or too long. Just a thought I'm kicking around.
Anyone else with a boost gauge may be able to look into this.

I am thinking it's pointless messing any further with boost adjustment till I eliminate the possibility of the hoses being crook.
If there is a member on the east side want to do a little experimenting with their Nanocom, please PM me and we can hook up and do some tinkering.
Should have the hoses fitted up by next weekend.
