Re: 99/2000 Discovery ES Auto "chipped"

Once again, to all those who replied thanks.

Managed to find an "untouched" ECU for a 99/2000 disco. Had the injectors etc. reprogramed to suit mine and went on a long 700km trip.
Consumption went from around 7.5km/l up to 9.94km/l. In the old language 28mpg. half the trip was thumping into a very stong SE wind/gale.

Been studying the ecu's since I got back and noticed that even thougth the prefix letters of the part number were the same the actual numbers them-selves were different. They were both for auto's.
After futher queries and assumptions from various people, it appears that LR had a little play with the ecu's late 2001/early 2002 just before the big update. Even though they work, they are not 100 percent compatable witrh the early models. ie fuel consumption.
Have now found a 99/2000 chipped ecu with the same part number as the unchipped model .
Will see what happens.
