Got bored, went for a drive....

Everyone else was unavailable, so eventually decided to head on out on my own.

Having never been to the powerlines but with a 2" lift under my belt and the trusty michelin factory tyres having to answer the call of duty I headed out expecting the worst.....

but I just let the CDL and TC get into their work and it was all good. I figured on my own the chicken tracks would be the go, but got surprisingly confident, enough to have a crack at this beast, and unfortunately everything looks smaller in photos, but the car just ground its way up no matter what. No big welly, just crawl, and keep crawling.

I suppose i had to include the obligatory flex shot, but again, photo is a bit disapointing after being there.<_<

And last, the dirty shot. Trust me it looked a lot muddier in person. I found a mud hole, tested it with a stick, no more than 6 inches, entered, and bugger me but the front end suddenly drops, water pounds over bonnet, sllllliiiighht moment of panic, so gave it plenty and ploughed on through. After that i expected the car to look a lot dirtier. Disapointing.

Anyhow, learnt a lot about the car, had fun, and found i take crap photos.

    cheers, Nick

Nick, pics NEVER do justice what the track was really like. Just check the Tassie section and see how a lot of tracks almost look like gravel roads!

I know exactly how you feel. We (son and I) usually head out with a group, and theres a lot of comfort knowing that theres help at hand. But the few times we headed out, you suddenly feel vulnerable and start doubting your skills/vehicle etc. But its such a buzz to come out the other side under your own steam, feels great

Well done - just make sure you don't push the bravado too far.... I live about 10mins by car from my local playground but once found myself alone leaning against a tree stump with my rear door taking a bit of pounding. One of those feelings - 'everything is fun until someone gets hurt' (this case my pride, the thought of having to ring up someone for a hand out, and the subsequent repairs now makes me think twice about where I go alone..... but I pushed on, with a bit of a scape and up a pretty gnarly hill and back home, with my tail between my legs).

I know what u mean. While I avoided any panel damage, when I saw the mud hole, the deviation in the track leading down to it consisted of a gnarly 3 foot drop between two large bits of tree with ruts running across it. I navigated it slowly and no probs, but was clenching for most of it. Was congratulating myself on this and contemplating the mud when i noticed a much easier entry to the dip about 5 meters on down the track that i had not spotted in my 'mud blindness'. I suppose I'll learn.
