    G'Day,
I'm currently doing just that. I have a Fullriver AGM 85AHr which I will place in the rear cabin and run it parallel to the main battery through an isolator. These are sealed and can be safely used inside the vehicle. Should be about half the price you quote above.
    Cheers,
    Steve

Hi nathand, if you want to install a standard flooded wet cell battery, the only thing you need to be able one of these types of batteries inside the cab is a battery box and this is to protect against any potential spillage.

There is no need to put any form of venting and a number of new imported vehicles come standard with the an wet cell battery installed in the cab and they don’t even both to put them in a battery box.

A standard flooded wet cell battery and plastic battery box is going to cost you a lot lest than any other set up.

I have been thinking about this as well. Aside from the battery type and location problems are you running it down stream from the 2nd Battery or splitting off the main Battery? I was just going to run another solenoid off the second Battery in parallel!
What size can you place in the EAS Compressor tray? Which was Option 2 for me. The 50ah in the engine bay is a waste if time pretty much!

I'm not buying a batto until I know where to put it. The 2nd batt is a Cnetury and was a bit under 2oo bucks.

Gday All, not sure if its an option but I normally just carry a thumper battery pack with me on extended trips and just plug the fridge or whatever into that and the second battery for the rest. When in town just take it out..good if you want to remove the fridge etc into the tent when camping..just a thought.

Gday All, Its call a Waeco Thumper, and I bought it at a 4wd show in Perth about 7yrs ago before I put in the 2 battery, with it I got a change over switch that you can run the fridge or charge the Thumper from.I connected this to the battery so the alternater can charge it.Im sure it can be set-up better than I have it so its continually charged but it suits me how it is.It also has posts so it can be used as a jump start.
Im not sure of the amperage as my dad is using it at the moment, but there was about 4 differents types and amperages.Mines about middle road and is about the size of a normal battery.
Cost me just over $400 with all the chargers etc but by the time you buy a solenoid, battery, cables etc is not to bad..Worth a look, I know bushranger make something similar so im sure theres heaps on the market.
    Cheers Ean
