    winch Picture

HI can some one post up a couple of pictures of their winch fitted to an ARB bar on the D2. I just want to check the orientation. That is confirm the motor is on the passenger side.
    Cheers Dave

Haven't got a pic, or a D2, but on the last one I worked on, the motor was on the drivers side.

Which ever way you put it make sure the drain holes for the motor are facing down. Unless it has a fully sealed motor of course.

Interesting, Maybe the XD9000 is just a tad longer than some others. I reorientated the free spool lever so that the motor was on the drivers side but it is a bout 5mm too long that way and will not fit as the end of the motor hits the roobar rails. If i turn it around the other way there is a cut out area where if it was a larger winch the motor would tuck inside the support rail. At least this way round the end of the motor nearly tucks inside of the and the winch will fit.
So it looks like I dont have a choice, not that it really matters.
Who can complain when the winch cost me $200 on ebay and is in very good condition both internally and externally. It was just in pieces and everything was there and tested great when re assembled.
    Thanks Dave

Up to the XD9000 (except the Himount) has the motor on the Drivers side - its a very close fit. The XP9500 doesn't fit, and the XD10000lb+ have the motor on the PS which sits in the cutout in the PS bar mount.

If you got a superior winch like the X9 you wouldn't have these problems

Thanks for the replys. I cannot fit it with the motor on the drivers side. I am just a few mm out, less than 1/2 a bolt hole. It seems so close but no bannanas. I have resigned to the fact that it just wont go that way. I have test fitted it the other way and it is is fine. With the motor on the drivers side it is just the 2 bolts that attatch the motor that stick out too far. Just need to run a longer battery and earth cable and it will be sweet.
    Cheers Dave
