No wonder we always get slagged off, but we love the criticism...
On the 1st and 2nd of Jan i waved at 7 Land Rover drivers (which were made up of D2's and Defenders) within the rural urban areas between Warburton and Emerald in Victoria and 6 drivers waved back. I figure that's not a bad ratio :)
in WA all or any one with a defender county wave disco folk some dont get it may be they dont get thier hands dirty who kows:cool:
i past 3 discos in a row and i waved to all 3 only to waved back but i dont think it was a land rover wave though.i always get waves of defenders and even a few high beams(i always do that) i know what you mean i have gone to wave but then realised i am not in a land rover.by the way who else when goes on trips try and find as many land rovers as they can specially the ones in the paddock.my brother and i did from sinleton to fraser island.first to name what it is gets the point and if you name one that isnt a land rover minus 3 its a good game
I recently completed a trip from Townsville to Gladstone return in my D2. I waved at all Land Rovers and I must say I was pretty dissappointed people! Only got a few surprised waves in return and another D2 initiated a wave.
Must of been alot of those people with the "It's just a car" attitude on the road.

Also what is a Land Rover Wave? I generally lift my hand off the wheel and move it towards the centre of the windscreen. I don't flap my hand about though:p
Used to have a 74 SWB series 3. In the old days right up to the mid 90s no matter where you travelled in the bush if you waved, you got a wave back. It didnt matter if it was another old Landy, Nissan or Tojo they always waved. Quite often the wave was initiated by them.
Maybe it was because we drove similar vehicles [read old]. Maybe the pace these days is much faster and maybe they don't have time to think of anything like the wave.
Oh well thats life. Still miss the old shorty, agricultural suspension and all.
Will post some photos as soon as I finish transfering the slides to digital in the Photography section, of the Gunbarrel Trip we did in 1978. Much rain, much mud, great fun was had by all.
