My passengers front door lock won't open on central locking. You can pop the lock by pulling the door handle inside but you can't pull the door lock pin up to release it.
It's a pain because I have to reach across and pull the door handle if a passenger wants to get in.
Where's the best place to get a replacement lock from? What would I expect to pay?
Has any one done a How-To on replacing the lock?
Cheers
Michael
Occasionally drivers or passenger door won't unlock, usually when someone is trying to open when unlocking using remote. I put it down to computer type confusion problem as locking/unlocking using key fixes the problem.
What is a real problem though is rear door mechanism failure when driving on outback roads. This is an ongoing problem. Dust gets sucked into the rear door lock mechanism making it increasingly difficult to open the rear door. After a couple of hundred K's on outback roads SWMBO can't open the rear door. I can as I have larger stronger hands. SWMBO isn't a weakling its just that the mechanism glugs up. I'm not game to use lubricant as I reckon this will only make it worse by retaining even more dust into the mechanism. idea...Might try powdered graphite next time I pull it to bits. This eventually gets to the stage where the rear door cannot be opened from outside the car and I need to open it from the inside. Pulling the mechanism to bits every so often and cleaning it seems to be the only remedy. This would be a major problem if I had a cargo barrier and couldn't get into the rear.

D2 99 TD5 - drivers door will not unlock with remote, locks with remote, but key will unlock. Rear drivers side door will not unlock with remote but will lock, have to reach over to unlock with interior handle. I have been told that drivers door has to be replaced by OEM - about $250 for part. Rear drivers door can be replaced by not genuine part but have to find one that fits. Its been like this for a couple of years.
Hope this helps

Mine is doing much the same thing. The passengers front door will lock with the remot but not unlock. You have to use the inside handle to get it to unlock.
Looking for the best price and place to buy a new lock from.

Michael.
what solutions are available for a rear door that will unlock as per the remote but the handle doesn't catch to release the door. This happens randomly and when last service was on "won't open mode" but thr MR boys found nothing wrong. Almost wish i could put my D1 door on and return to a mechanical system. Aside from a large hammer what are the options available?
Discovered the exact same problem with my RH rear door on the weekend. Sounds like the actuator is working but won't lift the button. Locks fine and door can be opened with the handle from inside.
Has anyone successfully serviced these or found a viable replacement? On rave it looks like a p.i.t.a to get out. Will have to make one of those trim breakers/lifters:mad:.

Yep, first had this problem about 2 years ago - right after buying the car. Driver's door - had to disarm with keyfob and then unlock with the key to get in, a pain but I could deal with it until the actuator mechanism/lock was replaced.
At present the passenger door is doing it...and of course has no key lock, so yes leaning over to unlock via the internal lever. Once to unlock, twice to open.
The rear door lever not engaging is sometimes a different issue, more to do with dirt/dust ingress into the mechanism, I think there's a thread or two about this...well the clean and lube fixed mine anyway. :)

Think we need to find a supplier and do a 'group buy' on these friggin things :D
My passenger front and rear are doing this.
Both of my rear doors are now not unlocking, but I need to try the three or four presses of the key fob and the internal button as well.
Oh well, atelast I now have the Disco 2 I want - three door version.....
(there are only two of us so its not usually a problem)
