oh, and make sure you have some front rated recovery points and a strap with shackles. Also take a small shackle to get rid of the Suzuki Jimnys.

you can get around most places on fraser without any probs. Last time I was there we saw a holden adventura and a subaru liberty.
Biggest tip is engage centre diff lock before you leave the barge and deflate your tyres. You could go right down to 15 psi if you wish you just have to drive slower. (I go lower than this but I'm not sure what tyres you will have on the 18's).
As slunnie said make sure you have front and rear recovery points and carry a snatch, a shackle and a shovel.
If you loose all momentum - STOP DRIVING.
get out, clear any sand build up with your shovel and start driving again. Some time rocking back and forth with build a ramp for you to get up on the sand and going again.
Hi John
I just came back from Fraser a few weeks ago. You won't have any troubles at all with the D2, deflate the tyres and its you won't have any trouble at all. Some people do engage the center diff lock, but I've found that traction control works quite well in sand. Like everyone says, just keep up the momentum and you won't have any trouble at all. On our last trip we tried to get ourselves stuck, but disco just powers on. And yeah, take your snatch and that if you feel like recovering any stuck backpackers, don't expect to use it otherwise. The D2 is just too awesome
Cheers
