FINALLY....some major mods to the D2
I finally got around to putting a 2inch lift in my D2 today. We went down to see Shane from Suspension Stuff on Friday and picked up the gear. I got the Dobinson springs as a) they are the same colour as my D2
and b) because I've heard the are great from many people on this forum. For shocks I went with the Lovells, as they are comfortable and but also a provide good offroad performance.
This morning we started work at around 8.30 and finished around 12.30, so it took about 4hrs, which is no time at all really. Fortunately not too many seized nuts and bolts, so the going was good.
I couldn't wait to go take it for a ride, and I wasn't disappointed either. Its a totally different car now, it irons out the bumbs beautifully and does not lean around corners at all. You simply cannot wipe the smile off my face, easilly the best mod I've done to the car. I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone.
Here are a couple of shots we took:
Heres a before photo, from a recent trip:

And heres an after shot taken today:

Then we went and took some flex shots:

Will have some more photos tomorow, when I test it out at Mt Mee.
I'd like to thank Shane for his excellent service and selling me such good gear and offering good advice. And finally to the_fish, for making time to come give me a hand today to do the install and getting it done by lunch time, really appreciated mate.
Cheers
Hendrik

hey stevo
Getting those boots soon, I'll probably go with some MTZ's same size as your bighorns. While they're expensive I have heard some good things about them.

New Suspension testing day
Yeah its a great kit, feels the best on road. Haven't done the cross member yet as I haven't felt the drive shaft hit, but it will probably be good to do it, just to be sure.
Went to Mt Mee today, with that_kid (Dark green D2) and the_fish to test out the new suspension. I'm very happy with the way it performs off road, can't ask for more. I didn't lift anywhere near as many wheels as I used to with the stock stuff. Most of the stuff we did wasn't too hard as all the good tracks at Mt Mee have been closed.
But it was a good day regardless, here are some pics:

Going through water crossings, it doesn't push nearly as much water as it used to.

More Flex Shots

Very Happy with the way it performs in the rough stuff

Will get some muddies for it soon, then some sliders and then a snorkel....the list goes on
Cheers

Good stuff mate..you should start up your own build up thread if you have got more to do!
Its funny, we are all keen to get everything on our Discos, but when you do you realise that the build up and testing of the latest mod is the fun part!
