    disco 2 wheels and tyre

    hi guys

i bought a disco 2 bought a year ago as i love my landies and this is my baby and beast. she is a shopping trolley at the moment as its the wifes car its a disco 2 v8 chipped stainlees big bore exhaust se model so 7 seats leather and all the electronic stuff and 18 inch rims. she is a beast and drives great had the usual probs such as 3 amigos.

newset prob is i need new tyres so i thought i would just run down and grab so no biggie WRONG!! i dont know if its normal but my tyres are 255/55/r18 and every store i go into they just look at with dollar signs in there eyes cheapest i could find was nankangs for 210 or good years for 400. so what i thought was i would source some 16 inch rims and get some tyres that are easier to get might cost more now but would be better for next time and for when i want more aggressive tyres. so i asked around and one place said if it came out with 18s you cant go to a smaller size rim. as i thought a nice set of disco 2 td5 rims would be nice.

so what i would like to know is is this true and is there a way to help me. also does any one know or have some rims from a td5 the 5 spoke ones that someone has got. or where to get good tyres from.

cheers in advance for the help

Total rubbish! Tyre guys spin this crap so often. The disco came with 16 inch wheels on most of the models. If you search around the wreckers, the dealers, and on eBay you can get 16 inch alloys for around $100-150 each. You can get the steelies but they are heavy and most often just as expensive as the alloys. You will find the tyre range bigger and cheaper.

245/75/r16 is a good size in ATs as they don't throw out the gearing too much. You can up to 265/75 also but it would better if you had a lift.

i would love it to look tough but not go nuts (but then again once you start its hard not too) i had a look on ebay and found a set not the td5 but hey still 16 and they come with tyres so thats a plus all for what i would have paid for 2 tyres now. i will take some pics and post in intros and rides.

just found out about the nanocom aswell and was wondering what to do with the laptop i have should go nice in the middle.

if you see any rims let me know

    cheers again mate

If they are P38 rims they will fit the disco. The offsets are the same. In fact mine are off a P38. Its good cause they are 16x8 instead of the 16x7 disco ones. Fits the 265/75's better.

    Will keep an eye out...
