    Jack problem

Hi all - made the mistake of using my LR D2 jack as a stand under my 2 tonn boat over the last 2 weeks...now I see its dropped down to the safety lump of wood an inch below where it was and oil everywhere. Now it wont pump up past where it was lowered to...is there any way of recharging the oil. I will use my 95 D1 jack for now....looks the same but I bet its bloody built better.

    Cheers

Pedro - I have used it before and it has always worked very well. I cannot see where to fill it though...there is a thing on the side that looks like a female press stud....cant see how it would come out though....how did you do yours?

Thanks fellas. Great post Dave. It might seem odd to you Dave that it needed to be pointed out that oil fill cover was to be removed with needle nose pliers. Believe it or not I was raised (no pun intended given the topic) on cars and have helped re-build countless engines, diffs, gearboxes etc, but I have never thought to re-build a jack...I like it. I could have asked one of my family who are all mechanics, but I suspected that there might be some roveresque niceties with this jack like so many other things rover. Thanks for your help.

I tried filling it and bleeding it using the guide linked to above. Unfortunately, no matter what I seem to do it does not go up at all now....and hisses a little air out of the top seal if I manually lift the ram up....I assume its stuffed but if anyone has any ideas I would welcome them...

    Cheers and thanks.
