I'm having no luck with the DVD, hooked up the PS11 to see if the screen works, NFG.
I am no autoelec so maybe I'm missing something, I will just have to wait till I get some spare cash and get an expert on to it.
Need tyres soon, so that will take priority.
No good if the Disco is up side down while the kids are watching a DVD
Thanks to those who chipped in with some ideas.
    Cheers Lionel

The LCD screen in my D2 died recently; I bought an 'all in one' from Ebay - best thing I ever did: bigger screen that tilts and swivles 180degrees, DVD's easy to change (no more reaching under feet to change discs), uses FM signal to tune into radio or can use wireless headphones, AND plays MP3 music discs and XVID videos - all for $280; woohoo !

My screen didnt work but the unit turned on and off. I had a look and found the little black box the Yellow RCA lead plugs into, had a connector fallen out. It was the slim black plug at the rear of the box towards the the back of the car. This is the feed for the screen. Check this. I had to pull the plastic seat base surround off to get at it.

Thanks Thomas, I have been through all that, the little black box with the yellow video cable is where I plugged in the PS11.
There is also another box with two fuses in it, both good till I put power into it.
My screen wont even light up.
I'm over it, got more pressing things to worry about,
    Thanks for all the ideas.
    Cheers Lionel.

Thanks for posting this.....I am looking at my DVD right now...where it has sat for a good 4-6mths since it was taken out from underneath. I have had Smokey for 12mths now and never played a DVD....much to my childrens "delight"...NOTTT. Now I am motivated to get mine fixed thanks to some of the advice here,

    Regards

How difficult was it to install Did it use the already available power in the roof console?

I have a similar problem but the complete opposite. My screen works well I assume it works because it turns on and I can select AV1, AV2, NTSC & PAL. But my player turns on as in the buttons light up on the front. But although it let me load a disc it will not spin or play nor eject. And the remotes won't work. I changed the batteries in both remotes but they still won't work. Any suggestions?

Hi Parklink, that was over 6 years ago that I installed the 'all in one' dvd player so from 'memory' I reused the power lead which fed the LCD monitor to power up the all-in-one dvd ( may have had to chop off the old power connector and join/solder to the new device..

I also re-used the RCA cables that run between the lcd montor & the dvd player (under the drivers seat) to feed audio-out from the all-in-one to the cassette player in the dash (no more headphones for kids in the back, now the whole family can enjoy listening to movies - even if the driver cant see the screen
A length of audio cable with male/female rca plugs, an rca to 6mm stereo adapter and one of those 'old fashioned' casette tape adapters that we once used to connect our walkman cd player to the cassette deck will do the trick - all parts available from Jaycar.

....or, you could just ask me to post you my old (and last known) working OEM DVD player for under the drivers seat ??
