Thread: D2 Baby Seat Anchor Points

SteveP84 - will sus out what's underneath the rubber mat - haven't lifted it out since I bought it - perhaps I have one lurking there... Will need to sus out whether top or bottom anchorage would be best tho space wise - the mountain buggy just fits in with a little room to spare so not sure how it would fit with the floor anchor point...

abaddonxi - thanks. I think I may just unhook one of the other seats and see what I need to do as I will be getting the same seat for #3 - job for a day on the weekend...

I hate moving baby seats around.

Three in the Subaru, three in the 130, none in the 110 at the moment, but last time it meant taking all six out and replacing them in a different special order.

on another note ... a few more questions...

i've had a look in the back after finding my keys in it this morning and I have the hook up at the top only.

Would anyone know how big of a job it would be getting an anchor point into the back of the middle seat? Has anyone done / attempted to do this? Do you think one of those baby fitting stations may be able to do it? Otherwise, I am thinking the floor boot space provided it's not too far away from the back of the seat may be better...

How far from the back of the middle seat has your anchor point been positioned on the floor? Is there anything on the underside where the bolt goes through that may come in contact with anything on the underside (such as electrical wiring etc?) if a hole were to be drilled through?

Not sure if that's how it's been done with yours or whether a hole would need to go straight through the floor as such? If you could supply a photo or clarify whether the bolt for the anchor point goes through to the underside and how far from the back middle seat that'd be much appreciated. It may just be a simple job with a drill and bit and buying the anchor point bits from a baby shop instead of going to a 'fitting station' as such?

I used the behind seat (on rear of seat) ones and the middle on the rear roof that you have just located. Its not a matter of drilling a hole and sticking in a point...the floor pain itself will be too weak and it would need to be anchored to something more substantial, and to be honest, for me, I would put up with a $20 extension strap and the middle rear point thats there...its goes so high its not really a drama even packing the rear with camping gear....I personally wouldnt risk getting a floor one done unless it was so over engineered there was no room for it to break or pull through.

Yeah i dont know how it was done, whether there is a factory hole to utilise.

I have a Safe'N'Sound seat in the middle and a 60cm extension strap to the anchor point above the rear window. It has never interfered with anything I have carried in the rear, and if you do have a lot of tall cargo you should easily be able to position it to clear the strap.

As as been said, it's a far easier solution than drilling the floor.

when we had our first we were driving a short wheel base nissan patrol which had no anchor points so we asked the RACT what we could have to anchor the seat. Their only solution was a rather large bar across the boot space bolted to each side ie not an anchor point bolted to the floor in the boot space - like everyone else I'd say use the factory provided one.
