Question Cargo barrier and interior light issues.

Just had bloke we know start work at local ARB dealership. Thought I would give him a look at supplying a cargo barrier for the Disco. price was $600 supply only or $890 fitted. Should I be feeling a sharp pain in the ripoff nerve here or am I simply out of touch with the realities of aftermarket landrover commerce?

Secondly, The interior light via the doorswitch has given up the ghost. Everything else to do with the doors seem to work i.e. alarm and headlight chime etc. Any simple places to start looking? The lights seem to work OK using thge manual switch but the door switch makes no difference.

    Cheers

$290 for fitting does sound steep. ARB used to charge about $200 to fit but that was several years back and I suppose they now charge more for labour.

Are you getting the dual position kit or just a single position?

They aren't hard to fit, but it's more like 2 hours than 10 minutes and is best done with two people.

With the light, check the contacts in the switch up in the light at the front.

Most door switches operate on the earth wire. Ie when the door opens the switchmoves and earths, completeing the circuit. So for a start , is the prob limited to one or more doors?

Wanted a Milford fitted late last year--- rang around, ARB most expensive,-- Opposite Lock $655 fitted and a good job --- a job I would NOT do myself-- serious holes drilled here and there, carpet neatly cut and fits neat, no rattles, easy to remove if needed-- I put some self adhesive felt over the holes cut in the roof trim (after cutting a small hole for the bolt to go through) and looks factory finish.

Is there a difference in the amount of weight those two types would stop. I would have thoughts the one that bolts in would be rated higher than the ones that have the cross arms,

Might not matter if you're not putting anything heavy back there anyway.

Be a shame though if the cargo barrier itself became a flying object

Note: that I am not saying that the cross-arm one is dangerous, just posing a question. They must be safe enough if they are on the market.
