Thread: 7-2=trouble?

I can't speak for NSW, but I did query Qld. Transport about this. It is OK to temporarily remove the seats but if the removal is permanent then an Engineer's report and a modification plate is necessary as the vehicle is no longer in the format at which it was complianced. I then asked "So I can remove the seats temporarily so as to carry awkward loads of for temporarily replacing with say a matress or similar for camping." "Yes, that is quite OK" was the answer, "just so as nothing of a permanent nature replaces the seats and they can obviously be quickly refitted back to the complianced format." "So then, I will just take them out temporarily" said I " and you won't need to be bothered?" "Yes, that's the idea, just remove them temporarily and no-one will be bothered". So I have taken them out temporarily.

I got mine taken out by the NSW dealer (Alto I think it was) when I bought it new, and they have never been back in.

If you don't tell anyone - no-one will know, and I can't see them caring really.

its truly amazing how many people buy a 7 seater then take the rears out,
and how many people with a five want to put in extras!

having done the former I can tell you a few shortcuts.
also the five seater has a panel on top of the rear door that covers the headrest mounts. just like a bought one

take the oportunity to drag the speakers (not literally)out of the footwell and put them in the rear pillars a'la D1.

Yeah I did think twice Pedro before posting. I have seen the odd thread about five seaters wanting the third row. I thought I cant go on and say I want to remove the third row But such is life. even more amazing given there is me, Mrs Jedi and little Miss Jedi. Great vehicle and Mrs J has a tendency to be great at the car purchase thing so one goes with the flow of she who must be obeyed.
will keep an eye out for the speakers, but as mentioned from a previous thread the seats seem to be the perfect space for the subbie.

but when you remove the D pillar belt runners there is a large, er, hole in the panel,,,

I suppose you could just leave them there,,,,
but then you cant sell the seats

and yes,, its a top spot for a sub,, had one there in both D's
