The air tank is just a back up for the slow ARB pump and therefore only get used seldom. When next the compressor fails (for the third time) I might consider replacing it with a newer version and then plumbing it to the air tank as well.
The air tank was an experiment and the only cost was for the plumbing bits. As it turns out, a 2.2 gallon tank is not big enough and only pumps one 265/75 from 20 - 35 psi. I need a bigger tank.
Cheers,
Franz
We've got one too now.
It is a 2003 D2a V8 Manual one owner from new (on the forum). It has now covered 96k km and has a full service history with all the receipts for work since new.
It’s an interesting specification car, as its coil sprung, 5 seater, without sunroofs or ACE, which is ideal for what we require, as a daily driver / tourer.
In terms of modifications:
2" OME lift
285 75 16 Federals on the 16" 6 spoke alloys (not in picture below)
ARB sahara bar
Recovery points
9000 pound Warn winch
Sliders
Lightforce 240 lights
ARB Dual battery system
Safari Snorkel
UHF
etc etc
It also has had the following:
Rebuilt DC front prop with greaseable joints
New headlining.
Low water alarm.
ECB roof rack (not in picture below)
Land Rover DVD player.
Poor pic from our driveway:
Pic from before we bought it:

Very nice Peter. I assume you still have your beast - the Defender?
BTW, who makes the sliders that are on the Disco?
Cheers,
Franz
Hi Franz,
Yes I sure do still have the 90 and probably will never sell that.
The sliders were made by Dranged on the forum. He has done a few sets for Discos over the years I believe.

Here's ours (1999 coil sprung 4.6 V8 auto with ACE) doing what it does best.
It has no bling, but lots of improvements to do its job better:
factory brush bar,
CDL,
4.6 litre V8,
HP24 transmission, with oversize transmission oil cooler and temp gauge,
AVN6000 sat nav/stereo/reversing cameras/DVDplayer,
Parrot Blue-tooth phone hands free kit
I-Phone powered cradle with direct input to AVN6000 for music,
CD stacker (now redundant),
Scan Gauge 2,
Long Ranger long range fuel tanks (163 litres),
Poly Air bags at rear,
dual battery with additional power outlet in back for fridge,
Prodigy electric brake controller,
breakaway brake system battery monitor,
side steps,
UHF radio,
full leather seats
NA pattern coffee mug holders (much better than the under dash ones),
Not flash, but a great remote area touring vehicle.
As shown before my Disco HSE Td5 -03 is transforming, well not by the day but by the year
When I got it
2" lift and bigger rubber 265 * 65 * 18
A new front bumper and steering guard from Devon 4x4 and 30 mm spacers
