    A few questions

    Hi Guys
I recently had my TD5 04 computer upgraded by DPL and they advised that I should put a modified rocker cover on to prevent oil issues on the harness, not sure whether it is for prevention or is a problem at this stage. Has any one gone down that path any advice comments would be appreciated as I have limited mechanical knowledge.
They also advised the airflow meter needs replacing is that the wastegate modulator unit I have read about in other threads?
I read the thread on replacing the intercooler hoses with silicone ones the ones from bellauto services are the go and had a look on their web site but could not find how to order etc does any one in oz supply?
enough for this thread any help comments appreciated
    cheers Keith

    keith,
just from my investigations and speaking the dpl before:
rocker cover mod is to reduce oil vapour entering the air intake system via the blow-by lin coming off the top of the rocker cover. uses some baffles to hold the oil in the engine side whilst still allowing blow-by to occur. not aware of it assisting the oil/harness issue but interested to hear more.

airflow meter is the the device just down from the airbox with a plug attached, sometimes just taking it out and giving it a clean with contact cleaner is enough to fix.

i/c hoses, i just received mine from bas recently but looking at the site yesterday they have changed some of the pricing and now charging more for international postage, obviously more buyers from o/s than expected so having to cover costs. look at the news tab Diesel performance and economy remap chip tuning for Landrover Defender Discovery TD5 Puma TDV6 TDV8 and scroll down to the td5 hoses.
    cheers

I will try cleaning the airflow meter mind you I do not know what problems it has caused if any as I have not noticed any drop off in performance and am reluctant to replace it if I don't know what problems it is causing.

    Keith,

If you let us know where abouts you are located, odds are good that there is someone here close by that might be able to help you thru a few things in person.

Oh, and in case I missed it previously, welcome to the clan...

The airflow meters are quite common to go tits up, if they do the ECU goes to a default fueling map. You probably would not have noticed "that" much difference since its happened, (I didnt till I found it defective) how ever once I had changed mine, my MPG went back up by 2-3 mpg and it didnt loose "as much" power when going up long climbs.

The fact you have had your car tuned, to get the "best" from it, you really want the ECU reading the modified fuel map as opposed to the "default" one.

    thanks Panzer
I had noticed that the fuel consumption had gone up but very marginally ie from low 10s to high 10s but did not think much about it.
Will the ECU go back to the correct fuel mapping or remain in default mode ?
A round about way of asking whether I need to do anything other than just replacing the unit been a long day and the brain is screaming for alcohol
    many thanks Keith
