    Need to remove clock

    Hi,

the bulb which illuminates the clock is playing up. How do you remove the clock? Rave says "carefully remove the clock"

I've taken out the coin tray thing which sits underneath and tried pulling but nothing happened - is there some sneaky trick? I'm assuming my D2a is the same as the D2 - it sits below the LHS centre air vent and has a door lock switch next to it.

    All help gladly received

    cheers, Andy

    Hi Andy,

I had to replace the clock blb on mine some time ago.

This is the method I used (from another landrover site).

You need to put a credit type card in the top and botton of the clock. There are two lugs there. The clock will just slide out then and the bulb just needs a quarter turn to remove it but its awkward and fragile You dont need to remove the screws from the front or the cup holder, you should be able to reach at the back of the clock and apply a bit of pressure to it.
Although, it is awkward to get the credit cards in as there is a strip of 'anti rattle' tape round the unit and the credit cards must go in long sided. The clock and the door locking switch come out as one.

    Hope this helps.
    Dave.

    Thanks Dave,

I'll try and find some old cards to use - don't want to risk the current one - might need it if I stuff up

Once you've got the clock out, replacing the bulb is straightforward ... if you can find one.

I ended up buying a small 12v bulb from Jaycar (less than $2) and soldering it across the terminals ... works great.

So the clock is out, I ended up using 2 of those laminated membership cards - easier than credit cards as they're a bit thinner.

I can't measure any continuity across the bulb in the holder but can't get the bulb out to test it on it's own - is there some trick or should it just pull out?

Sorry, should have looked first - I've answered my own question, looks like I have the welded in bulb that's maybe come "unwelded"
