    Imobiliser Gremlins

I had the simlar Prob with my D1 it would not start when the Disco was hot (after about an hour in the high country) and my mechanic put a loop in the system an i have had no probs since! The only problem i see is the the Imobiliser does not work but a switch in the power wire for the fuel pump does!

    I have simmilar issues.
After about ten hours my D2 only opens with the key.
All the time after being locked for about 30 minutes the alarm gives on signal the same as a miss lock. Then sometimes when opened before this signal. the ignition does not want to turn.
Only after about vife minutes of fiddling does it unlock and turn.
I just got used to it and life goes on.
    Any sugestions woud be appreciated.

I've always assumed that there was some sort of "timeout" for the central locking / alarm system.

My Disco regularly sits in the shed unused now sometimes for weeks at a time (depends how often I get home from work).

I have found that if I have only been away for a week, it still unlocks using the remote button on the key fob. However, if I have been away from home for 2 weeks or more, and the Disco has not been used by anyone else during this time, I need to use the key to open the driver's door - it will not unlock using the remote button. Once unlocked using the key, the alarm will go off virtually straight away, and I cancel this by pressing the "unlock" button on the key fob.

Mine has done this for as long as I have had it, and that time includes replacing both key fob and vehicle batteries - so assume it it just standard programming for how the vehicle works.

I know that there are some programming functions that can be changed through Nanocom or similar (such as whether first press of key fob unlocks only the driver's door or all doors). Not sure if what we are talking about can also be programmed differently.
    Cheers .........

I have had this problem twice in the last 3weeks i get home lock it all up and then in the morning go out to start it and it wont unlock or lock.. alarm going crazy... Until i found on the negative terminal on the battery if you follow the negative cable to where it connects to the body about 150mm from the battery terminal i found a wiring loom that consis's of many wires for the d2 was worn to copper... fixed the problem with tape and the problem was solved.... unlocks and lock now with out a hitch!

I found that both battery connectors was not very tight and one earth terminal behind bettery wass also not tight.
Fixed everything but still no luck.
I was once told it could be a miss lock that causes everything.

    Hi Guys,
My D2 had this problem for its life. I just got used to it, knowing that it was an "extra" safety feature knowing that no-one could steal it.

In the mornings i would open with key, which awakens the BCU, then lock with the key (without removing the key from the door) & this would then set everything into its normal working mode.

It was probably the alarm receiver which sits in the roof, or its earth point which is also in the roof. The earth point can become dusty & lose its continuity-bad earth.

    Cheers.
