thought it might of been fuel pump , wasnt got a new one in there now so thats a bonus lol

went to the local Land Rover place and they say it might be a senor on the Bellhousing?

has anyone has this prob with their Disco and if so what did you do to fix it?

i cant see any senor on the bell housing ... might just be me ..

That's 'cos your car isn't Spanish!

It's on the engine block, lower left hand side - the location opposite to that of the starter motor (on the RHS). It's the crank position sensor.

If the engine isn't cranking, it won't be that causing the problem.

If you turn the key and the starter motor does not make any noises and if you have an auto gearbox, make sure that it is not left in Drive or Reverse. Shift through all the gears and put it either in N or P (make sure that the red dots on the transmission display are correctly lit up) and then try starting.

If that doesn't do anything, pop the bonnet and press the big black reset button down which is attached to the firewall. Then try again.

If that doesn't work, then check that your battery terminals are clean and tight and that the battery is fully charged.

If that doesn't work, that a small hammer and give the starter motor a solid tap. If it starts after that, plan on getting your starter motor rebuilt.

    Cheers,

    Lawrance

    dizzy cap?

mate, it runs coil packs, up the back ,behind the plenum,,
    or just follow the leads
unlikely both would die I'd think,,,

try the spark at different leads---

Sounds like your crank sensor, I had a similar problem a couple of months ago. I was out shopping with the kids and when we got back to the car it would not start. Engine was turning over, just not firing up, at first I thought it was the immobiliser. RACV came and said there was no spark, towed to local LR mechanic he had a quick look and came to the same conclusion, no spark. When on monday the mechanic started fault finding, the engine fired up no problem, but spark was weak. In the end they changed ignition leads and crank sensor (for peace of mind). Since then no trouble.
