    TD5 EGR Valve

    Hi All,

I've read many postings about using an EGR "kit" to block/remove the effect of the EGR valve. My mileage is a little high so I'm wondering if the blocking the EGR valve might assist. I've read in forums that the EGR can also become dirty so perhaps a clean would help? Is there a simple way to block the valve even temporarily to check what effect this might have?

    Thanks.

As long as your EGR valve is clean enough to close, you can get it to stay closed by pulling off the vacum line ontop of the valve. This line pulls the valve open. Just make sure that you shove a ball bearing or similiar airtight object into the rubber end of the line. I've used an old ball bearing from a cycle wheel approx 3mm. Depending upon your EGR, there still might be some air restriction and gunge.
