Is your car an auto? Perhaps they disguise the low end sluggishness that is noticeable in a manual?

this falls into 2 catagories.
preventative maintenance
repair work.
If youve done it as prevent maint then you wont notice the difference. (other than your engine should last longer.
If you've done it as a repair job you'll notice the difference but only because it returns you from a degraded status of operation to normal operations.
I mainly done it as I know how bad a system EGR really is, the new Mercedes/MTU Diesels at work have it and no one is happy with it.After seing the inside of my inlet manifold I wont be totally happy until i've cleaned that out..I wont be putting it back thats for sure.
Cheers Ean
Not as quick as you Ean but Derek and I changed mine over today.
Seems to breathe better at low revs than it was.

Depending on the model of your D2, it is easy to make up the necessary EGR bypass parts at home like I did and it works a treat. Mine only had 50000km on the clock when I did it and I removed all the associated vacuum equipment also. If yours has the cooler in front of the engine then it will be slightly different. Mine is a 2004 D2a without the cooler. If you want details or would like to see mine (I live at Cardiff) send me a PM.

Robbo.
Cheers Robbo, I got the egr kit from all4x4. I also have a few more Ks 270
I did mine a little while ago now its a 02 model without the cooler, instant improvement/return of power, when I did the silicon hoses I cleaned the intercooler as well and that made a bigger improvement for me.
Cheers Darren
The only difference you will notice is if your egr wasn't working properly they only close when not in use,e.g sitting at lights etc otherwise it's just a defect notice.I know chances are slim..
Unfortunatly only a Provent will keep your intake clean.
I removed my egr a year ago and when i replaced the intercooler hoses, they were quite "oily",i also cleaned my intercooler but upon recent inspection i found oil traces again  although my engine doesn't consume any oil between oil changes(every 10k kmls)..
As above. The first thing you will find
now is the manifold will become oily from having no exhaust to mix with. May take a little time to eventuate if you've already cleaned the intercooler but it will come back. Provent is the only way to keep it perfect.
If you ask me nicely I might organize another one or two when I do the Mann filter bulk buy shortly!
Cheers
Andrew
